The island is nestled in the Firth of Forth and is one of seventeen islands that can be accessed on foot in Scotland. The Cramond causeway consists of a paved path that is exposed during low tides, allowing access by foot. Adjacent to the path is a row of concrete pylons that date back to the Second World War and were erected as an "anti-boat.

Cramon Island is one of a few islands near Edinburgh (one of the others being Bass Rock near North Berwick) Since we were staying in Edinburgh for a month we had plenty of time to plan our visit to Cramond Island.

Cramond Island is a tidal island in the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh which is accessed via a long walkway that is the remains of a WWII anti-tank barricade. The island is mostly covered in grassland, although there are a couple of small beach areas on the side facing Cramond village.
